This document is a draft, and payments are closed.
Kompetoo cannot take payment until the seller details and tax treatment below are settled, and the checkout route refuses to open a payment session while that is true. Nothing on this page should be relied on as a contract yet.
Kompetoo holds as little about you as it can while still being useful. This page says what it holds, why, and how to get rid of it.
What we collect from you
- Your email address. To verify you, to send your briefing, and to reach you about your account. It is the only thing we require.
- Your website, and the competitors you nominate. Domains only.
- Optional context about your business — what you sell, who you sell to, what makes you different. This is what lets a finding say why it might matter to you rather than in general. You can leave it blank; the briefing is less useful but it still works.
- Your feedback on findings — whether one was useful, already known, irrelevant or inaccurate, and any comment you add.
- Payment records for your subscription: which plan and how many competitors you pay for, the state of the subscription, and the terms you agreed to when you started it. Payment itself is handled by Stripe on their own pages. We never see or store your card details.
What we collect about the companies you monitor
Publicly published pages: pricing, changelogs, blog posts, landing pages. The same pages anyone can open in a browser. We keep dated copies and excerpts so a finding can show its evidence, and so next week’s scan has something to compare against — without a stored earlier observation, we could not tell you that anything changed.
We do not attempt to access anything behind a login or a paywall, we identify ourselves in every request, and we do not collect personal information about employees of the companies being monitored beyond what appears in a public announcement.
What is yours alone
Your watchlist, your business context, your briefings and your feedback are visible only to you and to the Kompetoo operator preparing your reports. They are never shown to another customer.
Public pages we have captured are shared across customers, because fetching the same public pricing page separately for every customer would be wasteful and would put more load on the companies being observed than necessary. That shared cache contains no customer data — it does not know who asked for it.
Sharing a finding
If you choose to publish a finding as a shareable card, it carries only the public fact, its source and the date observed. It never carries your business context, your watchlist, our suggested response to you, or anything else about your account. Sharing is always an explicit action you take.
Who else processes your data
- Stripe — payments. They receive your email and payment details directly.
- Resend — sending email. They receive your address and the message.
- MongoDB Atlas and DigitalOcean — hosting and storage.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Your account data for as long as you have an account. Payment records for as long as the law requires after that, because they evidence what was delivered against a payment. Captured public pages are kept as long as they are needed for comparison and evidence.
Your rights
Ask and we will tell you what we hold, correct it, export it, or delete it. Email [email protected]. There is no form and no process — a human reads it.
