How do I know a finding is real?+
Every factual claim carries the source, the captured excerpt, and the date we observed it, 1 click away. Anything we reasoned rather than observed is labelled as our inference, separately and visibly. If we could not check a source, we say so. We never treat a page we failed to load as evidence that something was removed.
What happens on the first briefing?+
You get a baseline: what your competitor's pricing, positioning and recent activity look like right now, with sources. It is useful, and it is honestly labelled. Nothing can have moved yet, because there is nothing earlier to compare against. Movement reporting starts from the second scan.
Why don't you ask for my website too?+
We do, just not at the front door. Findings read better when we know what you sell, so we ask for your domain during onboarding, after you have confirmed your email. Adding a competitor should take 1 field and about 5 seconds.
What do you actually watch?+
On every plan: pricing and packaging, product releases, meaningful website copy changes, positioning, and content and messaging. Advanced adds six more channels — A/B tests, hiring, technology and integrations, news and PR, customer proof, and on-page SEO movement. Weekly, on every competitor you add. What we do not watch is listed on this page too, because coverage you cannot see is worse than coverage you do not have.
Is my list of competitors private?+
Yes. Your reports and your watchlist are visible only to you. Kompetoo reads the same public pages anyone can open in a browser, it never accesses anything behind a login, and the competitor is not told anything.
What is the difference between Simple and Advanced?+
Depth, not completeness. Simple is every finding as an observed fact, with the source, the excerpt and the date underneath it, and the week-on-week comparison that makes it a movement report rather than a snapshot. Advanced adds, on exactly those same facts, what we make of them: why a change may matter to your business, the response worth considering, patterns across your competitors, the longer arc behind a move, and six harder channels — A/B tests, hiring, technology and integrations, news and PR, customer proof, and on-page SEO. A Simple briefing is complete and true; it stops at what was observed.
Is there a free plan?+
No. There is a 14-day trial, taken with a card, and if the first briefing is not worth your Monday you cancel inside it and pay nothing. We had a free tier and removed it: a free briefing has to be a deliberately worse one to make sense, which meant designing something to be less useful than we could make it. Charging for the whole thing from the start is the more honest arrangement.
What if Simple withholds something I needed?+
You are told it was withheld, by name, on the finding it came off. Nothing is blurred, nothing is replaced with a plausible-looking stand-in, and a source that backs a claim already visible on the page is never taken away. Coverage is never gated either — "we could not check this" is not premium information, so a Simple reader sees exactly the same coverage table an Advanced reader does.
This is a beta. What if it is not good enough?+
Then you should not pay for it, and the arrangement is built so you do not have to: 14 days before the first charge, cancel any time in the app or through Stripe's own billing portal, and a full refund within 30 days of any charge, for any reason, by email. Some of the work behind the first briefings is done by hand. That is deliberate, it is how we find out which signals are worth automating.
